Featuring the Greatest wildlife photography on the planet, The Greatest Wildlife Photographer – Kenya provides a platform for photographers from around the world to present their work to an ever-growing audience of wildlife enthusiasts while making a tangible difference for Kenyan wildlife thanks to our policy of donating 100% of entry fees.
Originally launched in 2018 exclusively in the Maasai Mara, the competition ran successfully for six years before a temporary closure. Now relaunched independently, the revamped competition aims to highlight Kenya’s diverse destinations and attractions. By collaborating with Partner Lodges across the country, the competition showcases the unique wildlife and landscapes that Kenya offers while raising funds to support our Conservation Partners and empower their important work.

Pie Aerts has been named The Greatest Wildlife Photographer – Kenya, with his image “The Long Wait,” winning $1,500 USD and a 9-night safari for two.

The Greatest Wildlife Photograph – Kenya 2025 has concluded!

Led by Steve Carey, who lives on-site, the camp is renowned for its adventurous walking safaris, expert wildlife tracking, and off-the-beaten-path expeditions
What sets us apart is our relaxed and welcoming hosting style, creating an atmosphere where guests feel at home while immersed in the wild. Guests can encounter diverse wildlife, including Africa’s rarest species, while enjoying the freedom to explore untouched landscapes. With a focus on conservation and authentic hospitality, Laikipia Wilderness is more than a safari; it’s an adventure that leaves a lasting impact.
Sushil Chauhan, a third generation Asian Kenyan with family roots in Kenya since 1892. He is extremely well travelled within the region and other wildlife destinations around the world. Having been in the tourism, guiding and photography industry for over 19 years, he has a keen eye for detail.
He has both Kenyan and South African guiding accreditations and has also bagged a few awards and accolades in the nature photography scene which is very close to his heart. He was recently featured in a German television special about Kenya as an upcoming Kenyan wildlife photographer and wildlife expert.
His intimate connection with nature is seen when he is in the bush as his passion lies in everything from dung beetles to elephants.
REVAMPED PRIZE STRUCTURE
The grand prize is a US$2,500 cash award and a 9-night safari. A further US$7,000 and 18 safari nights are awarded across the 2nd and 3rd place winners and the winners of the Birdlife, Animal Behavior, People’s Choice, and Guide’s Prize categories.

ANGAMA AMBOSELI
Angama Amboseli is an intimate lodge of just 10 suites in a private sanctuary — Kenya’s first community-owned conservancy, renowned for its diversity of wildlife. Set in a Fever Tree forest against the backdrop of Mount Kilimanjaro, Africa’s tallest peak, this is where some of the last Super Tusker elephants roam.
